Hosting Bands
Question (FAQs)
Answer
Has the CCDB hosted bands before?
Yes, we love to host bands. Our first experience in hosting bands, was in 1999 when the Marburg Band from Germany came to Australia. We had a number of concerts with them, introduced them to local sights and hosted the band members in our families. We made such life-long friendships with many of the members, and the experience made our band catch the travel-bug. Thanks Marburg!
Would the CCDB be interested in hosting our band ?
Yes, our band would love to make new friends, whether your band is from interstate or from overseas, please contact us. Hosting a band is a great cultural experience, sharing ideas and making new friends. Our members are very friendly, and would warmly welcome you into our homes. Many of us have hosted band members before or have had exchange students stay.
How could the CCDB help you if you came to Sydney?
We could help in lots of ways:
- provide homestays with band families (cultural experience)
- organise concert venues (e.g. one of our favourite places is at the Aquashell in Darling Harbour
- organise and book sightseeing excursions (e.g. at a local farm to see sheep shearing, dog working and boomerang throwing
- provide our band centre as a rehearsal venue (large room for concert band, with attached smaller rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, storage facility etc
- loan you large instruments while in Sydney (e.g. timpani’s, drum kit, xylophones) so that you don't have to transport them from your home
