History

 

1946

Official combination of players from the Campbelltown and Camden regions to form the Campbelltown Camden District Brass Band.

Bandmaster: Mr Frank Curnow

Deputy: Mr Harold Pollard

First rehearsal held in a Cordial Factory

1947

First public performance at Campbelltown Show.

1948

First uniforms - ex-RAAF uniforms decorated with red show prize ribbons.

1953

H. Pollard takes up position of Bandmaster as Frank Curnow moves to Adelaide.

1957

Started holding junior rehearsals on Tuesday night.

1958

Band has a D grade rating.

1959

First time a band from the district has competed in a NSW Band Competition.

1961

Uniforms replaced by ex-Army blues.

1964

First Ladies Auxiliary formed to support the Band.

1964

Junior band formed.

1965

First Solo contest help by the Band - continued annually.

1966

Junior Band gives its first public performance at Camden Junior Soccer Club Gala.

1967

Junior members commence competing at State and National Solo contests.

1968

Band Auxiliary replaces ladies auxiliary

1970

New Uniform (Red Jacket, Grey Pants/Skirt) worn for the first time at the Campbelltown sesqui-centenary.

1971

Band wins D grade championships

1972

Band moves into a new hall at Hurley Park built by the Campbelltown Council and shared with the judo club.

1972

Camden Show: first time the Band presents a diagram march routine to the public

1977

Transition from brass band to concert band format, seeing the addition of woodwind instruments to the band.

1981

Band wins NSW B Grade championships

1982

Band wins open NSW Street Marching Contest.

1983

Band wins NSW B Grade championships

1986

Band wins NSW B Grade championships

1986

Produces a cassette tape to commemorate 40th anniversary

1987

Band elevated to A grade status.

1987

Show marching, Bavarian and Stage Bands formed.

1991

Director of Music Harold Pollard awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his 44 years of service to Banding.

1994

CCDB Training Centre opened in Wickfield Circuit, Ambarvale.

1996

Bands 50th anniversary.

1996

Band wins B grade division in the National Championships.

1998

Band wins B grade division of the New South Wales State Championships.

1999

Band wins B grade division of the New South Wales State Championships.

1999

Band prepares for a European Tour in 2001.
