Day 8 - Wed 4th July by Abby and Toni
Well, on the way to the markets, Lu (one of our hosts) asked us if we liked kitchen for lunch. Not knowing what she had said, we decided to be polite and say ‘yes’. Later we had figured out what she meant. Giggling to ourselves, we tried to explain that she had said kitchen (where you cook food) instead of chicken/pollo. So we made a big joke about eating kitchen in the chicken.
Tonight we played to an audience of bugs. They seemed more excited than the real audience was, spinning around in circles. Once again the 1 km march ended up being 3x the length (as per usual).
Alberto & Sylvia decided to entice an audience by ringing people’s doorbells as the band marched by. This seemed useless as when we performed, the audience level was the smallest one so far.
The band played to its normal high standard and although the audience was quiet, we made ourselves heard. I would like to take the space to congratulate Sylvia and Ruth on being able to clap on the off beat for ‘Hootenanny”. Bravo!!
2 Days in Italy to go!!
