Day 25 - Sat 21th July by Robert & Heather Pollard.

The day we (30) arrive back in Australia, Sydney. As we do some last bit of shopping at Singapore airport. We leave Singapore on SQ 219 flight at 9:30 am Singapore time. Most of the group are coughing and very tired. But we must think of the wonderful times, the people, the places and must not forget the shopping. The buying of extra suitcases to bring home all the shopping. Most of us, if not all of us, are looking forward to some Aussie food and seeing our loved ones again.

How many castles did we see? I cannot remember, or how many steps did we climb? Can anyone remember if any of us got to bed before midnight without getting up early the next day? Don’t forget about our 50 metre marches, or how much wine or beer we all drank. Most of all, I will remember the good friends we made in Italy & Germany and how hard it was to say goodbye. This trip has also made new friends within the band. For me it was a great time with my children; Brendan, Samantha, Emma, Abby and of course Mark, my new son.

But it has also been a sad time, with Andrew falling ill and having to go to hospital and not being able to finish the trip with us in Dotternhausen and Marburg. It did not feel right to leave for home without Andrew, who is still in hospital.

We have just arrived in Australia, heading across the Great Sandy Desert. The rest of our 52 members will go on their own trips and will arrive back in Sydney at different days and times. When Andrew gets home we will have a party.

Some of the sayings on the trip were

1. Are we there yet?
2. We need a P stop.
3. I am Hungry.
4. We wanna wee song.

Sydney Home At Last

25 days........no sleep.
