We woke up to a wet day here in Dotternhausen. As the band met at the festive hall for the walk to the concrete factory, the weather fined up. Edwin and friends from the Dotternhausen band took us through, pointing out all the interesting fossils. Towards the end of the tour the rain came down, thus making it difficult for us to walk back. So Herbie came to the rescue & picked us up, along with the extras from Dotternhausen.
Arriving back at the festive hall, we sat down to a nice German lunch, most having schnitzel and potato salad. Whilst eating we listened to the senior Dotternhausen band members playing their music.
Soon it was time for the Dixie group, stage band & concert band to do their thing. Just when we thought we had finished for the afternoon, the Bavarian group was called to the stage to satisfy our audience, all of which had enjoyed the afternoon’s performance. As the stage was being packed up, the good old Aussie didgeridoo was brought out to play, together with the drums, clapping sticks, and Justin’s lager phone. Once again, the crowd thrived on our Aussie musical talents - with a weary band, dinner was served, followed by an early night by all, as we prepared for tomorrow’s trip to Rothenberg.
I think we all could say that our time here in Dotternhausen has been great, with terrific hosts who have been more than understanding & willing to do anything for us. We all will take home fond memories & hopefully keep in touch with our Dotternhausen friends.
